The schedule for the 2016 Skip Barber Racing School Formula Championship (formerly “Summer”) Series is set.  The upcoming season promises to be the most thrilling yet with Formula racers vying for the most lucrative purse of the series — a $200,000 scholarship**.

2016 Formula Championship Series Schedule 

  • Rounds 1 & 2 at Road Atlanta—May 19 – 22, 2016
  • Rounds 3 & 4 at Pittsburgh International Race Complex—June 22 – 26 2016
  • Rounds 5 & 6 at Road America – July 4, 2016 – July 6, 2016
  • Rounds 7 & 8 at Thompson  Motor Speedway—July 28 – 30, 2016
  • Rounds 9 & 10 at Roebling Road Raceway —August  18 – 21 2016
  • Rounds 11 & 12 at Autobahn Country Club—September 14 – 18, 2016
  • Rounds 13 & 14 at Lime Rock Park —October 13 – 15, 2016
  • Rounds 15 & 16 at Road Atlanta— November 9 – 12, 2016

  • 8 Race Weekends (2 races per group
  • Total of $236,500 in available awards
  • Drop 2 lowest race results
  • Able to transfer 2 double for points

AWARDS:

Overall Formula (End of Year) – Formula

  • First place: $200,000 Scholarship
  • Second place: $15,000 SBRS Credits
  • Third place: $10,000 SBRS Credits
  • Most improved: $5,000 SBRS Credits
  • Rookie of the year: $5,000 SBRS Credits

Masters (End of Year)

  • First place: $12,500 SBRS Credits
  • Second place: $7,500 SBRS Credits
  • Third place: $5,000 SBRS Credits

Overall MAZDASPEED MX-5  Prizes

  • First place: $15,000 SBRS Credits
  • Second place: $10,000 SBRS Credits
  • Third place: $7,500 SBRS Credits
  • Master winner: $3,000 SBRS Credits
  • Most improved: $3,000 SBRS Credits
