Nunez and Bloum Win Championships at
Lime Rock Park at Summer Series and MAZDASPEED Challenge Finale

(Braselton, GA. Oct. 26). Its that time of year when the leaves change colors and racing comes to an end. The 2011 Skip Barber Summer Series had its finale at Lime Rock Park on October 6-8. The event was full of laughs off track and intense racing on as the points lingered on every ones minds. We had a first time winner in Group 4 with RC Enerson. Tristan Nunez took home the championship in the Summer Series while Connor Bloum, our rookie of the year, took home the championship in the MAZDASPEED Challenge. On the Masters side of town, Greg Strelzoff took the championship in the Summer Series while Felix Borodaty was the Masters winner in the MAZDASPEED Challenge. The season was full of ups and downs but, through it all, we had a fantastic time.

Group 3 Race 1 – MAZDASPEED Challenge
Group 3 Race 1 was pretty much dominated by Connor Bloum, which clenched his championship title. Shelby Blackstock put up a good battle in P2 but never quite made it to the lead. Jim Craige held onto P4 with little looks at P3 but never quite held onto it. Notable mention is Donald Rowley who came from P14 to P10.

Group 3 Race 2 – MAZDASPEED Challenge
In Group 3 Race 2 Shelby Blackstock took control of this race. He led from start to finish without even a minor blip. Connor Bloum kept the peace in P2 knowing he already had the championship wrapped up. Jim Craige pulled another P3 position showing he was still ready to run. A last minute addition of Lee Carpentier showed us his skills had not lapsed. He raced his way from P15 to P5 in a hurry. Pablo Cisilino also had a good day starting P12 and finished P6.
