Skip Barber Racing was the ‘star’ on MTV

< Back 02/27/2007

Tuesday, February 27, 2007 The popular MTV reality show, Road Rules, is now in its 14th season. Like the previous 13 seasons, this year MTV has put six suddenly penniless people in an RV and launched them on a series of adventures. Each week finds the ‘‘competitors’’ in new locations, ready — or not — to face ‘‘unforeseen obstacles and challenges.’’

Guess where they were late February?

At Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, taking a Skip Barber Driving School, in an episode they called ‘‘Up to Speed.’’ After training in all the cool Mazdas — Mazda3, MX-5 and RX-8, plus the Formula Skip Barber race cars — the cast members were assigned their mission for the week. A mission, by the way, that came with a $10,000 prize for ‘‘successful completion.’’

Instructors Randy Buck, Jon Morley and Bryan Germone did a great job and the show was much fun to watch.

The episode, called “Up to Speed,” aired Tuesday, Feb. 27 and re-aired early Friday morning, Mar. 2. MTV has a history of replaying Road Rules shows over the course of a season, so check out the MTV website to see when the replays will be broadcast.
