(Lakeville, Conn.) Aug. 12 – Skip Barber Racing School today announced the addition of BMW’s iconic M3 to its High Performance Driving School. The M3 Coupe and Sedan join a fleet that features the Lotus Exige, Lexus IS F and Porsche 911, Cayman and Boxster, making the Skip Barber High Performance Driving School the most comprehensive multi-make premium driving school in the industry.
“We are excited to include M3 sedans and coupes in our HPDS fleet and we want to thank BMW of North America for the opportunity,” noted Skip Barber President and COO George Ayres. “BMW and its M brand are legend in the automotive world. We look forward to sharing these vehicles with our customers.”
The BMW M3 features a V8 engine, the first in a production BMW M3. It also features driver-adjustable settings for crucial dynamic controls encompassing engine response, steering, damping and stability (with a steering-wheel-mounted “M Drive” button to store the preferences), and a sporty interior that can be optimized to the driver’s desires including the comprehensive entertainment/navigation system operated through BMW’s 4th generation iDrive controller. Additionally, the M3 features the new M Double Clutch Transmission, a 7-speed gearbox with Launch Control, seamless downshifting, and upshifts that cause no interruption of power to the rear tires.
M3 Coupes and Sedans will soon join the High Performance Driving School fleets at Lime Rock Park, Conn. and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Calif., and will travel later in the year to Road Atlanta, Ga. and Palm Beach International Raceway, Fla.
