John Edwards: Atlantic in ’07
Monday, October 16, 2006 LAKEVILLE, Conn. – Rising racing star John Edwards has extended his contract with Red Bull and announced that he’s signed with Forsythe Racing for the 2007 Champ Car Atlantic Championship. Edwards, 15, began his racing career – as so many other racing stars have – with Skip Barber Racing.
At the age of 12, Edwards became the youngest driver in American motorsports history to win an open-wheel road race: In January of 2004, Edwards took pole then led flag-to-flag in the Skip Barber Race Series Southern Region race at Daytona International Speedway.
Later that year Edwards entered the Skip Barber National Presented by RACER, the highly regarded entry level pro series, and finished seventh in the championship, behind title winner Marco Andretti. Edwards scored 11 top-10 finishes in the 14 races, including two fourths and a fifth.
